Finally, the Bristol Dirt Race has been won by a driver with an extensive background in dirt racing. Christopher Bell, kept his head about him, while chaos erupted throughout Sunday’s Food City Dirt Race, and he scored his first victory of the 2023 season.
Bell led a race-high 100 laps on the night, the final 100 laps of the race, but he had to hold off a fierce charge from Tyler Reddick in the closing laps. A caution on the backstretch during the final lap of the race sealed the deal for Bell.

Kyle Larson on Preece: “I Figured We Could Just be Grown Ups and Get the F*** Over It”

Prior to Christopher Bell going on a dominant run at the end of Sunday’s Food City Dirt Race, it was Kyle Larson who had the dominant hand. Starting from the pole, Larson led 75-laps and won the opening Stage of the race. However, a spin to start Stage 3, and then a crash with Ryan Preece on lap 175 of the event put an end to his race.
While Preece denied any intent, the contact from Preece seemed to be retaliation for contact between the two earlier in the race. Whether he meant to crash Larson or not, Larson sure felt it was intentional.
“[I was] A little bit surprised, because it had been so long. And like I said it wasn’t my fault why he was back there. I think something happened to him off of [Turn] 2 earlier and then he ran into the back of somebody and spun out,” Larson explained. “Like I said, it had been an hour and a half, I would have to guess since then. I figured we could just be grown-ups and get the f*** over it, but I guess not.”
