Chase Briscoe, Stewart-Haas Racing Handed L3 Penalty for Counterfeiting NextGen Part
On Wednesday, NASCAR dropped the hammer on Chase Briscoe and the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing team after the No. 14 car was found to have a counterfeit engine panel NACA duct. For those keeping score at home, fashioning your own version of a single source supplier part of the Next Gen car is a big no-no. As such, NASCAR dropped the biggest penalty of the year, so far, on the No. 14 team.
NASCAR levied an L3 penalty, which comes equipped with a 120 owner and driver point deduction, 25 Playoff Points deduction, as well as a $250,000 fine and six-race suspension for crew chief Johnny Klausmeier.
The penalty, which will not be appealed, drops Briscoe from 17th in the NASCAR Cup Series championship standings to 31st.

Kevin Harvick’s first-career NASCAR Cup Series win came in emotional fashion, three races after the death of Dale Earnhardt, at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2001. In July, Harvick will make his final start at AMS, and that first win car will be there for all to see! The No. 29 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet will pace the field.
Richard Childress will take the car out of the RCR Museum for the event. Childress says he felt it was only right to pay tribute to a driver that meant so much to RCR and has put in a Hall-of-Fame-worthy career.
