Chase Briscoe, Joe Gibbs Racing Handed Major Penalties Post-Daytona
A successful debut run for Chase Briscoe and Joe Gibbs Racing this past weekend at Daytona International Speedway has been rendered obsolete, after a major penalty was assessed Wednesday by NASCAR.
The L2-level penalty, given for modifying a single-source part on the seventh-generation race car, comes with a $100,000 fine to Joe Gibbs Racing, a 100-point and 10 Playoff Points. James Small, crew chief of the No. 19, has been suspended for the next four races.
Todd Gilliland and Cody Ware also received penalties for a Safety Violation relating to the improper securing of lead ballast, and were docked 10 points.
