TC Daily Pit Stop: Austin Hill, Kyle Busch take Wins in Xfinity, Trucks at Atlanta; Ryan Blaney Claims Cup Pole in Dominant Penske Performance
TC Daily Pit Stop: Sunday, February 23rd, 2025
It’s time! We’ve made it to NASCAR Cup Series race day at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Buckle in, and enjoy today’s Ambetter Health 400!
Austin Hill Devastates Xfinity Field with Dominant Atlanta Victory
Austin Hill was mad that his dominant car didn’t make it to the finish of last week’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona. On Saturday, he set out to avenge the disappointment that was Daytona, and he did so in a big way at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Hill flat-out dominated the event as he led a total of 146 laps in the 163-lap event, and while he would have to stave off a challenge from Aric Almirola coming to the white flag, Hill easily charged to the finish line ahead of all challengers to take his first win of the 2025 season, fifth win at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and 11th NASCAR Xfinity Series win of his career.
Justin Allgaier would nip Almirola at the finish line to secure the runner-up spot.
Kyle Busch Wins Second Straight Truck Series Race at Atlanta
Kyle Busch, who hadn’t won a NASCAR National Series race since a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win at Texas Motor Speedway last April, finally captured another win as he went back-to-back in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Driving the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado, Busch was dominant, and over the course of the race, it appeared he was simply toying with the competition. Every time someone would pass him for the lead, he would knife his truck to the inside, and pull off a slider to take the top spot back.
In the end, Busch held off Stewart Friesen in a very exciting final lap dash to the checkered flag.
Ryan Blaney Leads Penske Dominance in Cup Qualifying from Atlanta
Team Penske flexed their muscles in NASCAR Cup Series qualifying on Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, one week removed after the team left Daytona with nothing to show for what was a dominant effort in the Daytona 500.
Ryan Blaney led the way in an all-Team Penske-aligned sweep of the top-four spots in qualifying for the Ambetter Health 400 as he narrowly topped his teammate Austin Cindric by 0.002 seconds to take the pole position.
Josh Berry in the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford, an alliance-mate of Team Penske, was third, and Joey Logano nabbed the fourth starting spot for Sunday’s race.
