Austin Dillon Loses Final Appeal for Richmond Penalties
It’s now crystal clear: to qualify for the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs this season, Austin Dillon will have to win Sunday’s Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
Final Appeals Officer (FAO) Bill Mullis heard and considered the final appeal from Austin Dillon and Richard Childress Racing on Monday, and determined that the rules were violated and the penalties assessed would stand.
A statement from Mullis reads: “The data presented today from SMT and IDAS systems indicate that more likely than not a rule violation did occur at Richmond Raceway on 8-11-24 by the No. 3 RCR car on the last lap of the race.”

Daytona Sends Shockwaves Through NASCAR Cup Series Playoff Picture
When NASCAR decided to have Daytona International Speedway host the NASCAR Cup Series regular-season finale, scenarios like Saturday's Coke Zero Sugar 400 were exactly what they had in mind.
This season, with the back half of the schedule delayed one week because of NBC Sports coverage of the Summer Olympics, the 2.5-mile superspeedway instead hosted the penultimate regular-season event, but still created the same, if not more, post-season chaos.
Closing in on his final starts with the famed Wood Brothers Racing organization, Harrison Burton took his first career NASCAR Cup Series victory on the high banks of Daytona, locking himself into the Playoffs.
Burton entered Saturday's event at Daytona sitting 34th in NASCAR Cup Series point standings, and became the lowest full-time driver in points to win an event since Casey Mears in 2007. As a result, the entire post-season picture has been thrown into disarray.

Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) Suing Skip Barber Racing for Breach of Contract
The Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) issued a statement on Monday in regards to its relationship with Skip Barber Racing. If you recall, back in March, Skip Barber Racing announced that it had acquired the racing series, which had run three consecutive six-race seasons from 2021 to 2023.
While many expected announcements quickly following that acquisition announcement about the future of the series, there had been radio silence about SRX since the announcement in March. Monday's statement from SRX shed quite a bit of light on why there hasn't been any noise coming from the Skip Barber Racing/SRX camps.
According to SRX, Anthony DeMonte had executed an Asset Purchase Agreement on behalf of Skip Barber Racing to purchase the racing series. However, in the agreement, it was agreed that neither Skip Barber Racing or SRX would announce the transaction without the prior consent of the other party.
