Adam Stevens Suffers Double Knee Injury; Chris Sherwood Inheriting No. 20 At-Track Crew Chief Duties
Adam Stevens will not be traveling to the race track with the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing team for the next few weeks as the crew chief suffered a double knee injury during a family vacation. The injury resulted in double knee surgery, which was a success.
In Stevens’ absence, Chris Sherwood will serve as Christopher Bell’s crew chief. Sherwood is the team’s car chief.
Stevens will remain plugged in with the team as he’ll be a fixture at the team’s shop while he battles back from injury, and he’ll be present in the JGR war room during the race weekend.
“I hate that I won’t be at the track for a few weeks, but I will be fully engaged remotely,” said Stevens. “I am very thankful for the depth and strength of this 20 team and don’t anticipate my physical absence having any effect on our performance. The surgery went well, and I will be back at the track in a few weeks.”
