Chase Briscoe’s Post-Daytona Penalty Overturned By Appeals Panel
Something that rarely happens, happened on Thursday as the National Motorsports Appeals Panel overturned an L2-Level Penalty that was issued to Chase Briscoe and the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing team following the Daytona 500.
The panel concluded that Briscoe’s team did not modify the single-source supplied part in question, which was the rear spoiler.
As a result, Briscoe has been given back the 100 points he was docked, and the $100,000 fine and four-race suspension for crew chief James Small have been wiped away. Briscoe now goes from 46th in the point standings, 28 points below 0 to 15th with 72 points.
